Outreach Assistant
8-Week Full-Time Contract | Two Positions Available
The East Coast Trail Association (ECTA) is a registered charity and not-for-profit responsible for the East Coast Trail, a wilderness hiking trail with 336 kilometres of developed trail. Our mission is to provide a wilderness hiking experience by developing and maintaining the ECT, promoting public access, minimizing its impact on the natural environment and protecting it for future generations.
We are recruiting for two summer student positions, in this role the students will split their time between the Trail and the office. In this position, you are responsible for collecting and generating on-trail social media content, engaging with the public, and supporting administrative work which supports the objectives of the Association and the maintenance, enhancement, development, and protection of the ECT.
You will be out on the East Coast Trail several days a week, hiking our paths, recruiting new volunteers and members, and collecting images and video for distribution through social media and other marketing efforts.
We are looking for people who love to be outdoors, have strong communication and organizational skills, and the eye for a creative flair. The ideal candidate is passionate about nature, is familiar with the East Coast Trail, and is an effective storyteller. Candidates should expect to hike an average of 5-7 kilometres per day, while carrying a pack and necessary gear, you should have demonstrated experience with gathering content and be able to transport yourself to the job site.
Compensation
This position is paid at $16/hour for 35 hours per week, for 8 weeks. Travel mileage will be reimbursed.
This position is funded through Canada Summers Jobs. To be eligible for the position candidates must:
- Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old at the beginning of the employment period
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
