East Coast Trail “Trail Raiser Community Hike”

ST. JOHN’S, NL – April 12, 2022 – The East Coast Trail Association (ECTA) presents the “2022 Trail Raiser Community Hike,” sponsored by ExxonMobil on June 4, 2022, in Portugal Cove-St. Phillips. Supported by media sponsor CBC NL, and adventure sponsor The Outfitters.

This year’s Community Hike is on the East Coast Trail from Topsail Beach to Bauline, plus a hike option in Voisey’s Brook Park. Participants choose one of the fundraiser’s designated paths to hike and then join us for a celebration afterwards at Brookside Intermediate. We target a fundraising goal of $100,000 help maintain, enhance, and develop the East Coast Trail in 2023. For example, funds raised in 2021 are being used this year to enhance Tinkers Point Path, the southern end of Bear Cove Point Path, and La Manche Village Path. These enhancements will include replacing damaged structures and clearing overgrown areas of the paths.

The “Trail Raiser Community Hike” celebrates the East Coast Trail Association and can be completed individually or as a team. This event is open to everyone: individuals, communities and businesses, with the only requirement being a minimum fundraising amount of $50.

Many amazing individual, team, and draw prizes have been secured for the fundraiser. The top three individual and team fundraisers receive prizes. Plus, for every $50 a hiker raises they receive an entry for a draw prize. Learn more about prizes at eastcoasttrail.news/TRCH22.

East Coast Trail Association’s hope for this fundraiser is for the community to come together for a day of fun, all while showing love and support for ECTA. Hikers can enjoy the beauty of the trails with friends and family as they raise funds to help keep the ECT safe and open for everyone.

“Our goal is to fundraise for the East Coast Trail’s maintenance, development, and enhancement,” said Shane Skinner, ECTA VP of Fundraising & Revenue. “We hope this event will bring out East Coast Trail enthusiasts young and old and encourage participants to get out and enjoy the breathtaking East Coast Trail.”

This event is your opportunity to positively influence the East Coast Trail! Enjoy the Trail with great company while raising funds and taking in all that nature offers. Join us on this journey to help us reach our goal of $100,000!
