We’re Hiring! Seeking Student Applications for Summer Positions

We’re now accepting applications from students for two uniquely supportive summer roles, both based from the East Coast Trail Association’s offices in St. John’s:
Summer Office and Outreach Assistant
In this role you can provide varied support to the trail Association and hikers in our busiest year yet, by:
-providing trail information to hikers in person, by phone or email,
-processing and shipping online trail-shop orders,
-assisting trail shop customers in person to obtain maps and other trail products,
-helping Association members join and renew,
-supporting trail crew recruitment processes such as posting available roles and coordinating interviews
-providing East Coast Trail Tely Hike event and administrative support
-supporting trail communications through tools like facebook, twitter and Mailchimp
You should be comfortable using windows, MS Office, and Google apps like gmail, docs and sheets. You might be completing studies in Tourism & Hospitality, Business/Office Administration, or Community Recreation Leadership. You have solid writing skills, experience in an office or customer service environment, great phone and email etiquette, and you’re always willing to help.
35 hours/week , $10.50/hr, for 8 weeks.
Information and Records Assistant
We’ve procured and generated a lot of information while developing 300km of hiking trail! You can help us streamline, store and make greater use of our information resources by organizing them, bringing them into consistent digital formats and making them accessible to staff and volunteers online. In this full-time summer project role, you’ll collaborate with ECTA’s staff and volunteer IT committee to:
-help us to evaluate our current state of records and information
-help identify how and what information can be used by unique committee areas
-create a file naming system
-organize information and records using the naming system created, providing a template we can use going forward.
You should be comfortable with MS Office and Google apps like Gmail and Sites, as well as standard office equipment – printers, copiers, scanners. You might be studying Business Administration, Information and Records Management, Project Management, Library Sciences or General Arts. You are intuitive, great at collaborating, project-oriented, and very comfortable working independently.
35 hours/week, $10.50/hour, for 8 weeks.
ELIGIBILITY: Both positions are made possible by the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, you must be a student between 15-30 years of age who was registered full-time at the start of this past academic year, and you intend to return to school full-time in the coming academic year.
