Position Title
Business Manager, East Coast Trail Association

Position Summary
The East Coast Trail Association (ECTA) is seeking a Business Manager to help coordinate and implement the work of the Association. Reporting to the VP of Finance & Administration your primary responsibility will be to support the Association’s strategic objectives to achieve a sustainable trail. As such you will support the work of the core ECTA committees responsible for Membership & Volunteers, Finance & Administration, Marketing & Communications, Fundraising & Revenue, Land & Legal, and Trail Management.

As Business Manager for the ECTA, you have experience working in the not-for-profit sector flanked by solid business acumen gained from working with government and business stakeholders. You possess superior presentation and writing skills and strong project management/organizational skills. You are a self-starter with a professional demeanor who consults and collaborates to deliver results.


Primary Functions
– Act as a resource to the Board of Directors, Executive Committee to support and implement objectives and policy decisions
– Support the ECTA annual budget process and assist with funding proposals
– Manage and produce content for ECTA website, newsletter and social media channels
– Coordinate the development of communications and marketing materials that resonate with a range of audiences
– Support community outreach, event planning, marketing partnerships
– Support sustain the trail initiatives to raise funds for the upkeep and enhancement of the trail
– Support and maintain relationships with municipalities, funding agencies, government, donors, other non-profit organizations and business organizations
– Assist with recruitment of seasonal trail maintenance personnel and manage staff and volunteers supporting the ECTA office
– Support membership communication, development and retention activities
– Support volunteer recruitment, recognition and retention programs
– Coordinate the Associations AGM and orientation for in-coming Board members
– Represent ECTA on committees, networks and joint projects
– Monitor community and tourism initiatives that may impact trail management

Education/Experience & Skills
– Bachelors degree in the social sciences or business
– 3-5 years experience in managing in the not-for profit sector, government or related field
– Experience in the recreation or cultural/tourism sector is an asset
– Knowledge of and aptitude with Microsoft Office and other communications software and platforms (Constant Contact/MailChimp, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube). Knowledge of design software is an asset
– Strong presentation, writing and editing skills
– Event planning experience including stakeholder engagement initiatives and special events
– Strong project management skills
– Ability to work independently and handle a varied and demanding workload
