Freshwater Bay Earth Day Cleanup

Ocean Net, Katimavik and East Coast Trail members joined forces to celebrate Earth Day with a hike and a beach clean-up in Freshwater Bay.

There were 42 participants in all who hiked Fort Amherst to Freshwater Bay on Earth Day enjoying a beautiful Newfoundland spring day along Deadmans Bay Path. After lunching at the barachois, the participants collected approximately 40 large bags of trash – mostly plastic – in the area and hauled the garbage up to the road to be collected by the city the following Monday.

The Association appreciated being part of a united effort in protecting and sustaining our environment.
