A Southern Renewal is Happening!
Attentive regular hikers will notice the fine work of our small stalwart ECTA team repairing infrastructure on the Southern Shore Trails. Based on thorough work-site surveys, Cathy and her two crew have replaced and added crib steps and boardwalk, supported or redirected the Trail around erosion areas, and installed many old faded, damaged or disappeared trail head signs with new shiny ones.

Teaming up with Volunteers
The crew has also assisted the volunteer maintenance team with tool upkeep and transport as well as Trail clearing and vegetation control.

Paths to Check Out
The sections of Trail that have benefited most from the added attention this season include:

* Bear Cove Point Path (Kingman’s Cove – Renews)
* Sounding Hills Path (Ferryland – Aquaforte)
* Caplin Bay Path (Calvert – Ferryland)
* Spout Path (south end )

The team is currently installing boardwalk on the Beaches Path.

Work-site surveys complete
Work-site surveys have been completed for all developed paths south of St. John’s. The surveys provide comprehensive details on the trail infrastructure and will provide valuable information to the crew as ECTA moves forward with its five year maintenance plan.

Get on the Trail
Take your map, take a hike and a look, and admire what has been accomplished this year. Thanks Cathy, Kirk and Jim for the beautiful improvements to our Trail. The work is much appreciated!
