Notice to Users of the East Coast Trail in Outer Cove, regarding the beginning of the Cobbler Path at Doran’s Lane
The East Coast Trail Association, in cooperation with the landowner near the entrance to the trail are currently working together to review the current location of this section of the trail. To date, hiker access to the trail remains in place pending the outcome of the review with the landowner, however users of the trail should be aware that “Private Property, No Trespassing” signs have been posted and a number of trees have been cut down along the trail.
This section of the trail is a well used and treasured part of the East Coast Trail, and while the path follows an established community path, the landowner of the property has asked us to relocate the trail. The East Coast Trail Association is working with the landowner to identify if the trail crosses their property lines, and in the meantime while these concerns of specific boundaries are being addressed, we are asking that users of the trail be aware of the land status and that access at this location could change without notice. We are actively seeking a solution and we ask for your patience.
The East Coast Trail Association is committed to working with property owners, municipalities, community partners and the government of Newfoundland and Labrador to protect and preserve access to historic and culturally important pathways and trails along our province’s coastline – to promote responsible use for the mutual benefit of future generations.
