Portugal Cove-St. Philips Hike Club helps maintain Local Trail

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Over the course of three volunteer maintenance outings, led by experienced ECTA maintenance volunteers,
several members of the PCSP Hiking & Walking Club participated and helped complete the Goat Cove
Path vegetation control between St. Philips and Goat Cove.

Parts of this section were moderately overgrown, and with
a number of blow-down across the path. The outings took place between July and September with hand tools
used to widen the path, inevitably leaving a few of the larger tree trunks down. This section of the Goat Cove path is now perfectly visible and passable.

Many thanks to the PCSP hikers who stepped up to help keep open this piece of undeveloped ECT.

Hopefully, we can continue this work in the 2016 season.
