ST. JOHN’S – ECT Trail Raiser “Community Hike” a major success! Thank you all for Donating! $101,045 raised!

The East Coast Trail Association, on behalf of the Board and Staff, wishes to thank everyone who came out to celebrate International Trails Day, Tourism Week, and the East Coast Trail at our 2022 Trail Raiser “Community Hike” in Portugal Cove-St. Philips on June 4, 2022.

We had a great day of hiking, live music by Youngtree and Carol Bee, a yummy lunch provided in partnership with Sobeys stores on the Avalon, and lots of prizes for the incredible fundraisers! Over 300 hikers of all ages joined us and helped us mark this great achievement.

On June 4, we announced that we had raised $86,860, and we are happy to report that since then, and with your continued support and the support of an anonymous donor, we have surpassed our fundraising goal of $100,000, raising $101,045.

“Thank you all for donating!!! Your support and generosity are very much appreciated. The funds you raised will be used to fuel our 2023 work plan and budget”, said Randy Murphy, ECTA President. “I’d also like to say a big thank you to our event sponsors – ExxonMobil Canada, CBC NL, The Outfitters, and the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philips, as well as a big shout out to Brookside Intermediate School for hosting our event. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The Trail could not exist without your love and support.”

Although our Trail Raiser “Community Hike” fundraiser is over, keep an eye out for our 2022 Trail Raiser “On-the-Go” fundraiser scheduled to launch in early September. The East Coast Trail is an important asset that requires ongoing support, and as such, we must continue to fundraise to support the trail year-round. In addition to fundraising, the East Coast Trail Association is recruiting volunteers to help support our work on and off the Trail.

So, if you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please contact our office at the information below, or go to our website at eastcoasttrail.news/volunteer to explore the opportunities and register to let us know your volunteer interests. If you don’t have the availability to fundraise or volunteer, you can always become a member and/or make a donation; it is as simple as 1-2-3.

Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!
