Sounding Hills Path has been closed until further notice:

A sign informing hikers the path is closed has been posted at the Ferryland and Aquaforte trailheads.

The bridge crossing the Freshwater River on the approach to the Sounding Hills Path has been closed by the Town of Ferryland. It is scheduled for replacement this Fall conditional on funding arrangements with the province. The bridge has been closed since mid-July denying vehicle access to homeowners located on the south side of the river. This is a challenging time for the residents and the Town as they work through the bridge closure.

The approach to the Sounding Hills Path, south of the Freshwater River, crosses over private land. In consultation with the homeowners and the Town we have agreed to close the Sounding Hills Path until the bridge closure is resolved. In the interim we are asking all hikers who are planning to hike the Sounding Hills Path to select another ECT path and get out there, enjoy our awesome coastline and wonderful fall weather.

We will let you know when this path is open and ready to receive hikers.

Thank you.
