Sugarloaf Path Cleanup 2015

Monday, June 1, 2015

On May 30 a group of 15 volunteers participated in a joint ECTA-City of St. John’s event to clean up the worst of the debris which had accumulated over the winter on the Sugarloaf Path near the Robin Hood Bay landfill. Wind-blown plastic bags and packing material from the landfill continue to plague this area. More than 60 large bags of litter were removed, and the trail now looks a lot better, thanks to the volunteers.

ECTA representatives will be meeting with City officials to review efforts being made to remedy the situation, both at the landfill site and on the trail below, and to reassess the respective roles of the partner groups in the future.
