Volunteers needed for our Spring Plastic Bag Cleanup

Saturday, June 8, 2013

The beautiful Sugarloaf Path officially opened in the Fall of 2007. Many people know that this path’s biggest challenge is that a section of it runs along side the Robin Hood Bay waste management facility. For years this section of coastline has been known as the “plastic forest”.

Since 2009, ECTA has been partnering with the city to do an annual Spring cleanup of the plastic that blows out of the landfill and into the forest and over Sugarloaf Path. The cleanups and new waste management initiatives have made a significant impact on the reduction of the plastic in this area.

It’s time once again for our Spring Plastic Bag Cleanup this Saturday June 8th. Please see the event page for details and register with Shelley Pardy by June 6, for meet location: spardy@stjohns.ca or (ph) 576 4510.

Join us on Saturday June 8 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. It’s Canadian Environment Week.
