These trails follow the scenic coastline from Shoal Bay Road in Goulds to Tors Cove, each offering unique challenges and distances. Perfect for a relaxing day hike or an adventurous overnight trek, these paths provide a refreshing escape, whether you’re enjoying a cool breeze on a summer day or the calming sounds of rain, waterfalls, and waves. The vibrant botanicals along the route are guaranteed to brighten your day, no matter the weather.
Spout Path
Looking for a challenge with a great reward? We present to you, Spout Path. This 16km southern shore trail is perfect for a full-day hike or an overnight trip. Pack a lunch for a picnic at the Spout, an ocean wave-powered geyser near the halfway point. Enjoy waterfalls, a historic lighthouse, dramatic cliffs & sea stacks along the way!
Mickeleens Path
This 7.2km moderate hike between Bay Bulls & Witless Bay features peaceful forests, lush sea meadows, dramatic cliffs, coves, sea stacks, and red sandstone cliffs. You’ll spot whales, guillemots, and cormorants from the Witless Bay Islands Ecological Reserve.
Beaches Path
This 7.1km moderate trail offers a tranquil stroll near the shoreline, hugging the coast with gentle elevation changes and frequent views of offshore islands. It winds through forests, heathlands, and meadows, providing diverse scenery along the way. Several cobblestone beaches are accessible at various points. The Witless Bay Ecological Reserve is a notable highlight, known for its migratory seabirds and puffin nesting sites. The southern portion of the trail, from Mobile Point to Mobile Beach, features a rougher treadway and more hilly terrain compared to the northern end. Be aware that Beaches Path is prone to erosion due to ocean currents.
Tinkers Point Path
This serene, beachside, wooded trail is ideal for families and offers picturesque views of the shoreline and surrounding islands. Rated Easy, at about 5km long, it’ll take around 3 hours to complete. Along the path, you’ll find several points of beach access, including: Deep Cove, Kearneys Beach, Beachy Cove, and Lower Beach, each providing a perfect spot to dip your toes in the water or enjoy a sandy respite. The trail meanders through lush wooded areas and opens up to scenic vistas, making it a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts. Popular spots like Kearneys Point, Tinkers Point, and Vales Meadow serve as perfect locations for picnicking, where you can spread out a blanket and savor a meal amidst nature’s beauty. These areas are also renowned for their opportunities to observe seabirds and catch glimpses of majestic whales, making your visit an even more enriching and memorable adventure.
